Flower City Ukulele Cruise

We're so happy to returning to one of the favorite events of the summer: cruising the Erie Canal on the Colonial Belle while singing and playing along, led by the Rochester Ukulele Orchestra. These events have always sold out, so buy your ticket asap (and definitely before the July 5th deadline!)

Meet up at 6:00pm to board at 6:15pm (we will be pulling away from the dock by 6:30pm, so don't be late!) Note: You may be delayed by trains crossing Main St. in Fairport

Place: 400 Packett's Landing (behind the Village Hall), Fairport, NY 14450 Tel. (585) 223-9470

Ample FREE parking is available.

The boat cruises RAIN or SHINE and has a huge open upper deck and enclosed lower deck "just in case." Cash bar available on board and snacks are available to purchase.

The following items are NOT permitted: • Any outside beverages. All beverages (including bottled water) must be purchased through Colonial Belle per our NYS Liquor License requirements. • Any outside food. • Smoking and/or vaping anywhere onboard per US Coastguard regulations

What to Bring:

1. Your Daily Ukulele Books 1 & 2 (if you have them). We will have a few spare copies to borrow.

2. A music stand, if you have one. Binder Clips or clothespins to keep the pages in place if it is windy.

Tickets are $30/each and can be purchased online here. Questions? flowercityukefest@gmail.com

Thank you so much to Bernunzio Uptown Music for sponsoring the Ukulele Cruise. Bernunzio's is located in the heart of Rochester at 122 East Avenue, and is a great resource for all things ukulele, as well as banjo, mandolin, guitar and more.

Hochstein Ukes Play the Blues
Jul

to Aug 12

Hochstein Ukes Play the Blues

Learn to play the blues on the ukulele! Most of the songs you hear on the radio have some basis in the blues, which is an important part of American music history and a major influence on most modern popular music. But what exactly is the blues?

Over the six weeks, you will learn techniques to introduce you to blues songs, how they work, and how to play them – including blues scales and chord patterns, beginning improvisation, bending, and other techniques. The course will delve deeply into a few songs demonstrating the ideas and skills that will give you a good foundation to continue to explore blues music in your playing beyond the class.

This class will be held via Zoom. A Zoom-compatible device is required for participation, such as a smartphone, laptop, or tablet that has a basic video recording capability and a microphone.

Find details and registration information online here from The Hochstein School.
